Almost done with gaming... But first I have to jack that car!

I was a game addict for years... From the age of 9 (4th grade) when I was 1st introduced to the Nintendo Entertainment System, up until the Playstation 2 ( I owned every system that I could grab). After the PS2 I switched to PC gaming for online gaming mainly Massive Multiplayer Online games. I started playing MMO's in 1999 with Everquest, and tried roughly 20-30 titles over 10 years. The main ones I stuck with were EQ1 (4 years), World of Warcraft (3 years), Age of Conan (7 months). I even won a gaming tournament that got me featured in the island newspaper in the 6th grade.

I had given up on gaming after I tired of MMO's, because after years of playing games with thousands of people, I no longer found it fun to play a game solo. An old favorite from my PS2 days had peeked my interest, because it has multiplayer aspects and a previous title had been modded to be an MMO by the PC community. Yes I'm gonna buy Grand Theft Auto 4 (PC version - since I don't own any of the new gen consoles). It is being released sometime this month.

Awesome trailer with one of my favorite Reggae singers, Mavado:

Everyday I'm hustling.

So last night I was invited to attend my 2nd show (podcast) for B.O.D. aka "Bunch of Dorks", it's a podcast about everyday happenings in the life of 3 characters... Mow, Promee and the Man with no Name. Last nights show covered the election, some kung-fu and online social sites.

Before I went to the show I had about 2 hours to kill and I drove around Largo into 'Da Burg. It's amazing the places you see or forget about when you go off the same path you drive daily. I used to live in the area 7 years ago, and it was good to see places again, and the changes to others. Swung by the mall to see if any new kicks were out that I wanted, and enjoyed having time to think.

During these thoughts, I couldn't help thinking about getting another source of income (job). I already work 2.... but I'm sure I could handle a 3rd. Now you may wonder why?

Well my 1st source of income is my career, I work as a Graphic Artist for a national company, and it pays well for the area (Florida), but that only handles so far, and its a M-F 9-5 hours so I have plenty of time. I used to hustle 5 days, doing deliveries in the early morning before I went to the office under-the-table.

About a year ago that switched to a regular 7 day delivery job which was legit, but my wife who was at the time a stay-at-home mom (hard work), took it over in her name. So now she does 7 days and I work 2 and help anytime she needs an extra hand... but I really hate it, because it has gone downhill since I started doing it. Due to the economy, it makes no sense to quit it as it is good income, so we are sticking with it for awhile. The benefit of it is, we get to keep our younger son home until he starts school, and save money on daycare because of the early hours.

Back to the 3rd ... there are a few items I want, big expensive items. Since they aren't a necessity and only wants. I feel I should work "extra" for them. We have 2 older cars paid off (by Jan 09), but if I get the car I want "2009 Dodge Challenger R/T" it would mean a new car loan, and a car payment again. Then it would need the tints, rims, stereo upgrades etc, hah. So yup, I need extra $$$. Plus I always wanted to have a wardrobe of fresh Nikes, and jeans, and tees (which I hope to design my own) and that needs $ also. I figure a lil extra money each week would handle it all.

We'll see if I get a 3rd hustle, or find another option. I'm already working/hustling 7 days... whats a few more hours.

Background check.

As I sit here thinking of what I want to achieve with the blog, with my thoughts to the masses my mind races furiously. I want to express what I am, without being watered down, without being fake, without any pretenses and remorse.

So lets get it started BOOM!

I'm an islander born on a rock in the Atlantic only 21miles long by 7miles wide. This island molded me into what I am... I love Nassau (in the Bahamas). It was a mix of everything growing up. Mix of Britain and American influences with Caribbean and West Indian and of course our own Bahamian essence absorbed into the people and culture.

My early years were entirely spent in my hood. Growing up with my brother and single mother. We were one of the 1st tier of homes built in the area, so as the area built up I knew everyone, that came into it. Eventually as the years went on, and many boys moved in a crew of friends was formed. I consider these people my true friends for life, as we grew and experienced many trials and tribulations (that I will get into later) together.

After my early life and schooling at age 18 I moved to the USA to pursue every dream I could imagine, of what I had seen and heard in American movies, TV and music. College and my career, and a new family was created here (wife and 2 wonderful boys). At 28 I had achieved the "basic" American dream - House, cars, career, happy family.

So as a entered my 3rd decade of being alive this year. I started to reflect and wanted to get back to my roots as much as possible. I wanted to work on myself and improve what I see as pitfalls. Some things I planned for myself and am now working on is sketching tattoos, growing my locks, getting in peak physical shape, and trying to understand the spiritual realm of this universe.

This blog will address my issues, and world issues from that point of view. Stick around and get to know Kalik.
