2 Pistols - Pusher

@2Pistols

2 Pistols with another single from his street album "Arrogant". 2P dropped the official video for Pusher, which is him trash talking on his accomplishments, which analyzes him selling drugs before he got into the rap game. He started off pushing that whitegirl as a youth and caught some charges. I been feeling this mixtape/album. This song always stuck out to me since he mentioned my hometown and it's about one of my favorite things "You know I love money!". Tampa Bay represented thru Tarpon, and Nassau in 1 track... killed it for me.

"Self Made, Self Paid... Nassau, Bahamas blowing kush off in the shade!"

The father of a 4-year-old child recently diagnosed with leukaemia, yesterday made a passionate appeal for the public’s help in settling more than $1 million in medical expenses for his daughter’s treatments. Although doctor’s have found Zion’s condition to be in remission, her parents, Jason and Ancilla Knowles, will likely have to foot heavy costs that exceed their financial abilities.

“The expenses,” Mr Knowles said, “are unbelievable. The bill so far is not a final bill and it’s already over a million dollars. That’s mostly because of her stint in Miami Children’s Hospital’s ICU for three weeks. We have the insurance, but it doesn’t cover everything. “So at some point that will be exhausted, depending on how much the insurance company decides to pay. Either way we’ll have a sizeable bill to cover on our own.”

The family’s journey with leukaemia, a cancer of the blood cells that can lead to other infections, began in May following a routine physical check-up in preparation for Zion’s first year in kindergarten. Mr Knowles said that before that Zion showed no symptoms of becoming gravely ill. “We were referred back to paediatrician who found her liver and spine were enlarged so that prompted her to do additional blood tests, specifically looking for certain things,” he said. Later on, Zion was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital for one week, but was then referred to the Miami Children’s Hospital where she has been treated since July 2nd. “Since she’s been admitted she’s had a lot of ups and downs,” Mr Knowles said. “Initially in the first two weeks she developed pancreatitis as a result of one of the medications. That required her to stay in ICU where she was sedated for the entire period because there was a lot of pain involved. “It resulted in her blood pressure being high, and her sugar being high. So throughout the entire ICU stint she was on about 10 different medications. She also started having seizures and is also on anti-seizure meds. Zion was also on a feeding tube, a stomach pump and on a respirator.”

The family has also suffered a divide as Mr Knowles has constantly had to travel to and from Miami as his wife stayed at the facility while doctors cared for Zion. “She goes in for weekly visits for her chemo and she gets a spinal tap basically every week. Now she’s in the consolidation stage which involves a high dosage of chemo medication to fully eradicate the cancer cells. “My wife is over there with her. She got a leave of absence. I travel back and forth. My employer has been working with me with giving me time to go over there and work here.” Considering the circumstances, Mr Knowles said, Zion, who is now on seven medications, has shown incredible strength and a good knowledge of the ordeal. “Although she is four she is very intelligent. Zion is aware and will tell you about leukaemia. She lost her hair already, but we told her about it, so she accepted it and is fine with her hair the way it is.” Doctors, Mr Knowles said, expect Zion to make a full recovery.

The family now wants to use their experience with leukaemia to create a wider public awareness. “Apart from just for our benefit, we really want to make the public aware of leukaemia because a lot of people hear about prostate and breast cancer, but there are so many different types of cancer. Leukaemia is one of those that is so romanticised, that you only see it in movies, but not many people know about it.” A cook-out in aid of Zion will be held on October 6.

El Padrino - Duffles

Solid video from El Padrino... This video and track, should break Padrino in the States. If not, with all the island country shout outs. I'm sure he gonna noticed somewhere.

People think reggae and soca, from the islands. We got rap talent too. Some rappers talk about slangin nicks and dimes. Most Bahamians talk Duffles, when they talk about shit. Either its shipping out to Miami, or moving it further down the island chain. I don't know anyone that hasn't had a family member not affected by tryna make some paper off of it.

Everyone has heard of Dudus in Jamaica... who knows about Ninety from Bahamas? I aint tryna brag on who had a bigger drug ring. But sometimes you get tired of Jamaica representin the entire West Indies. No hate much love for Yard. But look what happened when NY was the only thing you heard of in rap, then the West Coast and the South spoke up. It's time for Bahamian stories (through music) to be heard. If people love the drug stories, as they do in rap and movies like Blow, Scarface, etc then let us tell em.

How many rappers have mentioned Bahamas, in their lyrics? Too many to fuckin count... and I tried at one time. How many videos showed us running shit into Miami? Big shit happens in this lil country... (read more here)

Enjoy the track, I will be bumpin this for awhile.

MDeez feat Showtime Shaddy - "Millionaire!"

Hip-hop has always been an American past time. It is rare that an outsider or foreigner is allowed to infiltrate the game. Wycleff and Fugees brought Haiti on the scene, as well as Drake for Canada, Big Pun for Puerto Rico, Rock City for the Virgin Islands to name a few.

It's time for a Bahamian artist to be getting play stateside. Lord willing I hope MDeez be bumpin out everyones car by 2012.

MDeez and Shaddy attack this beat (which is fire by itself), with money motivating lyrics. If you can't stack paper to this you just aint about making that paper.

MDeez - Love Is

New tune from versatile Bahamian artist, MDeez. Usually Mdeez is spittin rap lyrics or being featured on other Bahamian artists songs, such as So$aman. This song he switches up and lays down a reggae influenced love song. I have been enjoying this tune. Also below the "Love Is" video I linked up a previous MDeez track, which is my favorite by him "Screws Loose", you can search YouTube for other songs and videos from him.

Kimbo Slice vs Houston Alexander [almost Full Fight]

I'm a huge fan of Kimbo Slice. He's reppin Bahamas and Florida, like myself. Even though he's a streetfighter it has been proven in MMA he can be beaten, on several occasions. Now that some (most?) of his online fans have turned their back on him after his losses, I still keep watching and hoping he puts a hurting on people.

(1st round is not shown, action was boring says the guy who uploaded the vid)

Random thoughts about tattoos thanks to Birdman...

I mean seriously. I know Birdman aka Baby and Weezy F. Baby (his adopted son, they say)... loves getting inked up. I know that by now he prolly ran out of space to put a new one. But this has got to be the most ridiculous tattoo I have ever seen. First off, he already had this Red Star tatted on his neck over his Adam's apple. He must have forgot, so where else to put it so he never forgets but on top of his brain. I thought the Oil Rig one he got was horrible, but damn he went and topped it, literally.

All pics are clickable for extra info!

Now I always wanted sleeves. I wanted to do my right arm covered in Bahamian artwork and stuff related to my home country (the flag, ocean, even a flamingo) and my left arm to my 2nd home, United States (flag, highway signs, guns, cars etc). But after seeing Baby and Wayne, I never go... cuz if its addicting like everyone says it is. I don't want to even go there.

Kalik likes these styles.

Baigon - Money on da ground....

| Posted in , | Posted on 11/10/2009

This song is from a rapper based out of the Bahamas. He goes by the moniker Baigon. Baigon is derived from Baygon, a deadly insecticide that kills bugs (think Raid). I can only imagine that the name was selected because he kills all his competition, and like "Tony Montana" said "I bury those cockroaches!"

Growing up in the West Indies, you have to learn how to appreciate the free things. Coconut trees, and other exotic fruit trees growing wild. Or in America you ever seen a guy collecting scrap metal, bottles or cans to recycle. I'm sure we have all heard the best things in life are free. But what if you could make something from nothing, take the useless and make money, paper, dinero.

Baigon infused these concepts into a terrific track called  "Money On Da Ground!". In this rap, he shows how various persons of different means can make it. He calls himself "the tart-man" in the song, because he is a chef on the island of Nassau in the Bahamas, and is known for making treats from the coconuts that "fall to the ground".
