#springbreakers

Girls in bikinis (Selena Gomez), guns, a Riff Raff look-a-like with 727 tats (my area code), Clearwater Beach, more guns and Gucci Mane brrrrr! Movie looks like some shit I'm gonna enjoy wasting 2hrs watching. Piffery. Wonder how they gonna portray Tampa Bay in this flick, the scene with the girls in ski masks pushing that speed boat under the Skyway bridge sold me.

"Bikinis and big booties, that's what life is about!"

2 Pistols - Pusher

@2Pistols

2 Pistols with another single from his street album "Arrogant". 2P dropped the official video for Pusher, which is him trash talking on his accomplishments, which analyzes him selling drugs before he got into the rap game. He started off pushing that whitegirl as a youth and caught some charges. I been feeling this mixtape/album. This song always stuck out to me since he mentioned my hometown and it's about one of my favorite things "You know I love money!". Tampa Bay represented thru Tarpon, and Nassau in 1 track... killed it for me.

"Self Made, Self Paid... Nassau, Bahamas blowing kush off in the shade!"

Slugga Ft. Chot - Came A Long Way

Slugga outa Merk City aka Tarpon puttin on for 727 with this deep track. I used to be up on Mango Circle a few years back, when I was younger tryna help some of the kids from that community. Now I'm living in Wick City, glad to see someone coming at the harsh realities that surround Pinellas County. Even though its my side of the Bay, I think the entire Tampa region has it's stories that need to be heard. Chot kills it also... Florida has some slept on artists, it aint just Miami that needs to be heard.

T-Gim [Ovados] - Take it to the Street

I've been listening to Ovados (T-Gim, Mo Gutta Game, Sonny Crack) about a decade now. They rep St. Petersburg, Florida and have some of the most thought provoking / funny / goon tracks. Think of Plies in a NWA style group... I know it may sound like a strange mix but I like it. Take it to the Street is the latest from local Tampa Bay rapper T-Gim. The video has extra fluff before the song which is a waste IMO, but the song itself is solid.

Here's Ovados' Soundclick page, I recommend Trac-Phone (non slowed), Judgement Babylon, Get Yo Cash Out and I Gotcha Spinnaz (I used to kill that one). Plus with them jackin most southern cats beats for a decade... you might find one you like.

*Warning the 1st track on Soundclick aint working, just skip it*

LAWS GOT SIGNED PARTY and Mixtape....

When I met my wife her family lived in Springhill, Florida. A town north of Tampa (it's included in the Tampa Bay family) ... Honestly nothing to do there, from what I had seen. The town has been growing over the years she moved there from Brooklyn, NY back in the 90's. Laws is also a transplant to this town. He has been working with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and he got signed. So of course Tampa is having a party!! Congrats Laws!

The Chopp Shopp - Slowed Down (Tampa Bay)...

Every region has their style, down in Miami / Ft. Lauderdale they speed it up. In Texas they chop and screw it. In Tampa Bay, we slooowwww it down...

The Chopp Shopp in New Port Richey, north Tampa Bay area (Pasco officially, where I'm at) does the slowed down videos for the stunnas rocking the DVD in the whips. He mixes in other film to the extended tracks, it is very official.

Here's some songs, you may hate it... shit I did back in 96' when I first arrived. But after some nights when my mind was hazy, and hearing Makavelli slowed down, this shit grew on me. This is best for when you creeping or chilling.

Tom G - The Problem Child (mixtape)

When I moved to Tampa in 96' everything local was jukin, and club tracks. Over the years some artists caught my attention, Tom G, Rated R, Khia, recently 2 Pistols and Laws. (the last 2 being signed artists now)

Tom G emerged from the jukin, over the years to trill southern rap and this year when I heard "I got problems!", I felt I could finally relate with that. Give the mixtape a listen.

If you live in Central Flawda you can see him perform at the LDS 94.1 concert this weekend, as well as at after parties and club events around town.
