Just copped some P. Rods Cadbury's for $20... can't beat that deal. These were one of the shoes that look horrid on display and so fucking nice on your feet. Put em on, and I have a bunch of tees that set off this shoe.

Guide On Buying Nike Samples (not fakes)...

| Posted in | Posted on 12/05/2009

0

First I want to point out I mostly only deal with Nike products. No hate for the other companies, I just prefer Nike. I'm also not a deep heavy duty collector. I don't have hundreds of kicks, but I have enough to wear a new pair every day of the month and more (and I don't mean February)... I think its around 30-35 quality pairs (half being deadstock) and 5-10 daily beaters.

The main point of this quick guide is buying fresh samples that aren't fakes. Ok what is a Nike sample? It is the product used by Nike salesman to take from store to store to try and show clients what is going to be released in the future OR a mockup shoe that a Nike designer had made to see the finished product before release.

You can buy them from resellers (on sites like Superkix) but expect to pay a high mark-up on them. Some forums deal with samples as on N-SB.org they have an entire thread dedicated to samples. Or you can search consignment shops/thrift stores around your area. IF they know what they have, yes big IF they will price them higher. More than often they will price them at the same price as clean shoes. The store I hit in my area sells the samples for an affordable price. You can see a few on my Twitpics... (they have Nike 6.0 Jock Sucks samples, and a few other 6.0's). I didn't buy em, but if you want email me/comment I'd buy and ship em to you if the price is right.Do not be this guy on Yahoo looking for samples and 2 replies down, he's being sent to a fake Chinese website.

10 Things to look for:
1. Sample on the Tag in shoe. (not always present, it has either 1. or 2., or both)

2. Sample on the inner sidewall of shoe. (not always present, it has either 1. or 2., or both) Twitpic

3. Most samples like 99.9% are size 9.

4. Samples don't have boxes.

5. Any shoe in a non-original colorway, it is a sample, a fake or a ‘custom.’ Customs are shoes that have been hand detailed in some way usually by one of the few well-known custom designers. These individuals take a legitimate pair of shoes and custom detail them for you, in which you case, you know what's happening and fakes are not a worry. Some websites call their shoes ‘customs’ but they are fakes.

6. Variants - these are fake. Variant is just another way to say that shoes were not made or authorized by Nike and never have been. See variants at a barbershop - Twitpic

7.  Quality of the build - if it is built poorly, I'd chalk it up to being a fake.

8. NikeID tags, sometimes people create sneakers on NikeID and return them for whatever reason. Nike being a company that has a profit to maintain, sells these at Nike Outlets for a low price.

9. TYPES OF SAMPLES

• 1 Player Samples - produced for Nike sponsored teams and players
• 2 Sales Samples - produced for Nike Sales Representatives (EKINs)
• 3 Wear Test Samples - produced for wear testers (individuals providing performance feedback)
• 4 Look See Samples - produced for in-house distribution, often with hand written tags. The stage of development prior to 'sales samples' production.
• 5 Factory Confirmations - produced in quantities of typically 1, 2 pairs as a confirmation of quality before the entire production (of the same shoe, but in tens of thousands) commences. If the factory management is satisfied with the sample, QC staff must sign (yes) their names on the shoe.

10. If you are unsure, DO NOT BUY IT!

Young Money feat. Lloyd - “Bed Rock”

| Posted in , | Posted on 12/01/2009

Feeling this joint. Everyone is comparing Young Money to Junior Mafia, a group of new artists under the guidance of one of raps elite (Lil Wayne / Notorius BIG). This is their current single, and it's getting heavy rotation on the local radio station, which I am forced to listen to when I forget my mp3 player home on my commute to work. Nicki kills her verse, finally a new female rapper, I don't mind listening to. The last ones were Foxy and Lil Kim in the mid-90's (sorry Trina, Khia, Jackie-O and anyone else). Tyga, Gudda and Drake hold it down also... Wayne's line "cuz I'm attracted to her, with her attractive ass!" reminds me of someone *winks*

I was hoping at least one of the Young Money crew would be wearing the Nike Big Nike High "Flintstones" at the video shoot (below) though... I didn't see it. Tyga did have some Flintstone tiger pajamas on though (no homo)

Converse.com is having a 20% OFF sale on Chuck Taylor's and on other merchandise today only 11/19/09. The downside for me is I have a Chuck Taylor's designed in a Bahamas Flag colorway with the Converse design tool, but this sale can't be used on them. I'm still going to see what they have... hopefully I find a nice hoody. *Throws up the Westside "W" sign*

Nike Air Foamposite One – Dirty Copper

Wale broke these out and got the sneaker blogs dreamin when he was seen rockin these while performing at Jay Z’s Blueprint 3 Tour stop in Baltimore. Below is a  detailed shot of what will be a popular release, and its not a Quickstrike or limited release, these will be in Finishline etc. The unique shape (that some find spectacular and others ugly) of the  Foamposite are made even more evident on this model in metallic copper, which highlights the foam material featured on the upper. Clear soles, black on the heel, lace area, tongue and midfoot is a nice way to tone down the copper color.

What size shoes were DJ AM...

| Posted in , | Posted on 11/14/2009

I mean sorry DJ AM died and all, RIP. But I wasn't a fan of his, and he was a drug addict that OD'd. All I know is a memorial fund is being made for him and they are Ebay selling off his sneaker collection, over a month (Nov. 15-Dec. 14). I keep hearing about all the limited shit, but if it aint a 9.5 or 10, then its useless to me.

If you wanna see what he had, here is an old MTV video. Some of the limited mentioned are: 1 of 200 pairs of Nike PlayStation Air Force 1s and 1 of 50 pairs of Eminem Air Jordan 4s, along with Supreme Dunks; Supa Dunks; Hyperstrikes; Air Jordan PEs; and other rare, retro and limited-edition shoes.

The online auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, and continue though Monday Dec. 14. Bidding will take place via www.ebay.com/djamshoes. More than 800 pairs of the former Palms resident DJ’s sneakers will be auctioned for charity. So the math is (breaks out calculator) <850pairs (approx) / 29 days / 24 hours> so 1 pair will be released every 45mins-1hour, it looks like.

Forgot to do this yesterday and I have a pair of Deadstock Red Destroyers in my closet so, I will just do a basic fit. Yes I like to color match. I love Obey shirts, they always have a deeper meaning to them and have nice artwork. This one is a female Chinese soldier with a rose in her machine gun.

Photo Update - RESN Nike Dunks...

| Posted in | Posted on 11/13/2009

Not my shoes, with the new laces. I am buying the "Fully Laced" green/red/green laces and gold lace locks for mine, from Karmaloop. I think I'm gonna order a bunch of laces for my other shoes. I have a pair of P. Rods that would look damn nice with a different color lace on it. I'm happy with this purchase... Thanks again Westside Skateshop!

Wanna sell your kicks online?

| Posted in | Posted on 11/12/2009

So you wanna sell your kicks online but don't want to deal with forums (NikeSB / Nike Talk / Hypebeast etc). Just want to upload some pics and set your price and sit back and wait? Kalik suggest these two sites. I signed up for both, never know when I may trim my collection. Both SneakerListing and Karmaswap are new and in Beta stages. But as always when buying gear online BEWARE OF FAKES!

Customizers take Nike's to a higher level...

Sometimes you have to admit, a great custom, surpasses what Nike can put out for mass production. My peronsal favorites are the Jordan 1's "What the..." by Revive Customs.

If you also like customs you can vote on the 2009 Clash of the Customizers contest, that is going on now at SoleCollectors.com . It is currently in the Semi-finals.

Here are 2 of the awesome customs battling it out!

RESN Dunks - What does RESN mean?

| Posted in | Posted on 11/10/2009

0

Everyone calls them Gucci's. Even I do, but here is the meaning of RESN. Honestly the meaning makes the shoes even more DOPE (pun intended).

Here’s the story on RESN via N-SB.org

Diamond
March 16, 2009

Hey folks,
This is Nick from Diamond Supply Co.
I just thought I would brief you guys on the concept behind the shoes and how they came about.
Sam Smyth from Girl Skateboards designed these back in ‘05 and I helped him a little with the materials. These were designed the same day as the Diamond “Tiffany” Dunks and were suppose to say Resn on the tongue, which was what Sam used to write when he was in the IBC tagging crew in SF. Green for the weed, red for fire and black for the resn. Gucci was just the nickname for the shoes but they were really going to be named Resn SB just as Tiffany’s are really named Diamond SB. True Story.

Edit - I got mine today from Westside Skateshop in Tarpon Springs, FL. No mark-up and super staff.

18 minutes too late...

| Posted in , | Posted on 11/09/2009

I have been pestering my nearest skateshop "Westside" for awhile now about the RESN "Gucci" Nike Dunks. Today they released and I worked late til 6:30pm due to the wine from last night (can this Mon. get any worse). It was raining also on the way from the blow back from that Tropical Storm that is hitting the panhandle of Florida. I get home check my bookmarks, and realize the dunks are in...

I round my 2 boys up, hey its a skate shop, my sons will enjoy it. I think they close at 9pm. We arrive at 8:17pm... but in the window is the CLOSED sign (18 mins late). I hope I can get my size tomorrow.

For anyone that isn't following the release of these shoes. A few years back Nike released samples of a Gucci inspired colorway dunk with black denim, green and red leather. The sneaker was never released and samples (and bootleg Chinese versions) USED to go as high as $1,000 on Ebay, and reseller sites like "Flight Club". I guess Nike finally got clearance to release them. The only difference is the denim is neatly trimmed, unlike the sample that had rough edged denim.

A week ago I posted how you could design your own colorway on NikeID if you missed the DJ Clark Kent "Gucci" inspired dunks, or you didn't want to wait for these.

They actually cost less than the NikeID's (which are $135), they only cost $108 local. Honestly the value of these will only go up, if you keep em deadstock. ($250 already on ebay)

I already bought a Sneaktip shirt from DrJays, and a pair of Fully Laced laces and lace locks from Karmaloop. Use Karmaloop Repcode Kalik see sponsors in sidebar --->

Wish me luck.

My new favorite Sneaker site... SuperKIX

Ever want a pair of shoes, don't know where to find an authentic site on the net. Tried Googling and got many bootleg China shops. Or found a store but hey, you're out of luck, they don't have your size. You grab your head and "Argghhh!" scream...

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's SUPERKIX to the rescue. This site browses a database of 40 of the top online resellers (Flight Club, The Holy Grail, Pick Your Shoes, Karmaloop etc.), you can search by name, style, men/women, size and price.

I just wasted an hour, looking for some rare shoes I thought I'd never find. Now I need to find a part-time job to buy said shoes. This site doesn't help with that.

Friday Fit - "Diet Coke" (I cheated... its darker shades)

I already drank 2 of these suckas today... for my caffeine fix. I know its supposed to be Silver and Red color combo. But I went with a darker shade on both to Maroon and Grey. Lets see how Kalik pulls this off...

Bo Jackson's Air Trainer 34's (Minus the 34)...

| Posted in , , | Posted on 11/06/2009

Bo Jackson Air Trainer SC Black/Grey are arriving this week in Footlockers around the country. Check your mall, and most likely you can grab a pair. These are a regular release not limited or anything.

I owned the original pair of these "The 34's" were on the back heel where the Nike is now. I had bought them in 7th grade (summer of 91 I think) and kept em in clean condition for 3-4 years. One of my homies borrowed em to wear to a party. The next day, bright and early his lil bro, wore my Bo's to mow the lawn. They got pretty messed up from wet grass staining them green. I never even took em back.. I just said keep em and was disgusted. I always missed them, so I am buying again.

Thanks Chris, for ruining my 1st pair of Nikes that I bought.

Jordan 1 - 2010 release - XX inspired

| Posted in , | Posted on 11/06/2009

My fave Jordan silhouette is the Air Jordan 1, simple clean and a good shoe period. I also love the Nike Dunks, and Big Nikes (that are very similar to the J1). In 2009 my must buys from Jordan Brand were the Tribes, the Hall of Fames, and the DMP pack (when it went on clearance). The all red, or zinc may be a Christmas purchase after I see them in person.

The first 2010 colorway to catch my eyes are the ones that pays homage to the Air Jordan XX. It combines the simple styling of the Air Jordan 1 and the intricate detailing of the laser etching characteristic of the Jordan XX.

Nike - Gucci Dunks (An Alternative and not Fake either)

| Posted in | Posted on 10/30/2009

So you missed the DJ Clark Kent East "Gucci" Nike Dunks (Like I did), or you can't afford the high prices on the sample ripped denim "Gucci" Dunks (up to $1,000) online, or maybe you can't wait for the holiday release of the new denim "Gucci" being released this holiday season. Here's a comparison of the Sample (rough denim) to the Holiday (neat stitched denim)

To be honest I'm doing it for all 3 reasons, plus it will be exclusive to me (with my name on it). You can get em on NikeID.

I created a Gucci inspired Dunk in July on NikeID when you could have your name set behind the swoosh in a repeating pattern but I missed the deadline to buy em. So even though, I have it saved in my Nike locker, I can't purchase them.

Today I was browsing NikeID again, and I saw some new colors and materials. So I again attempted to design a Gucci. Lo and Behold I made one, and in my fave material, Patent Leather. Hopefully I get 4 hours of overtime soon, I only buy new shoes on OT money. Also if you don't like Dunks, why not buy a Blazer?

Friday Fit (Early) - The Military fit...

| Posted in , | Posted on 10/22/2009

Just got my 14k Bullet with black diamonds charm. It was smaller than I expected (damn website camera tricks)... BUT I still like it. I just need to get a slimmer chain to rock it on. I was going to put it on my gold dog tag chain. Now I guess I will have to wear 2 chains...

Tryna piece together a miltary fit tonite, from some of my fave sites... I saw the kicks at Journeys (waiting for them to go on sale, I TRY to never pay retail). I found a shirt I like on T-Shirt Hell. Rock with a miltary style M65 jacket from an Army Surplus store (or Karmaloop for a nice one) and I'd be set, with brown/khaki cargos or dark jeans.

Lets see....
